Former Watford FC captain Troy Deeney has described Victor Osimhen as one of the top five strikers in world football.
Osimhen enhanced his reputation this week after scoring in extra time as Galatasaray progressed past Juventus FC in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.
Despite a 3-2 second-leg defeat, the Turkish side advanced 7-5 on aggregate, with the Nigeria forward earning a nomination for the competition’s Player of the Week award.

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, Deeney said the 27-year-old possesses qualities that would suit any competition.
“Every league would want him; he’s physical, he’s strong and rough around the edges,” he said.
While comparing him stylistically to other elite forwards, Deeney added: “Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t look the silkiest, he’s not the Harry Kane type of striker.”

However, the former Premier League striker praised Osimhen’s technical and tactical attributes.
“When you watch him, technically, he’s very good. He’ll bash you about; he can link the play, run in behind, and he scores goals, which is the most important thing.”

Deeney also addressed speculation over Osimhen’s future, suggesting finances have complicated potential moves.

“A lot of why he hasn’t moved on has been financial,” he said. “I think when you start to look at him, the value is always going to be high.

“If you look at him, only one or two players in Europe are better than him in every department.”
