Super Falcons defender Shukurat Oladipo has been rewarded for an outstanding debut spell in Italy after signing a new three-year contract with Serie A Femminile champions AS Roma.
The Italian giants confirmed on Thursday that the 21-year-old has extended her stay at the club until June 30, 2029, underlining their confidence in one of the brightest young defenders in women’s football.
In a statement announcing the extension, Roma praised the Nigerian international’s rapid development since arriving in the Italian capital.
“AS Roma are delighted to announce that Shukurat Oladipo has extended her contract with the club until 30 June 2029.
“A central defender, Oladipo joined the Giallorossi back in February 2025, and has so far made 32 appearances for the club.
“During the 2025/26 campaign she was instrumental in both our Scudetto and Coppa Italia wins. Shukurat has also been a regular member of the Nigerian senior national team since the 2024/25 season.”

The new deal caps a remarkable rise for Oladipo, who moved to Roma from Nigeria Women Football League side FC Robo Queens in 2025.
She quickly adapted to life in Italy, becoming a key figure in the heart of Roma’s defence as the Giallorossi completed a memorable domestic double by winning both the Serie A Femminile title and the Coppa Italia.
Earlier this year, Oladipo also etched her name into Nigerian football history alongside compatriot Rinsola Babajide. The pair became the first Nigerian duo to win the Italian women’s top-flight title together, helping Roma secure the Scudetto after another dominant league campaign.

While Babajide added creativity in attack, Oladipo emerged as one of Roma’s most dependable performers at the back, earning widespread praise for her composure, consistency and maturity despite it being her first full season in European football.

Her performances were further recognised when she was named the Italian Women’s League Best Defender for the 2025/26 season, highlighting the impact she has made in a short space of time.
Oladipo’s rise has also translated onto the international stage.

Having established herself as a regular member of the Super Falcons and WAFCON 2024 winner, she has been included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the defending champions will be chasing a record extending 11th continental title and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

At just 21, the contract extension represents another significant milestone in Oladipo’s career and reflects Roma’s long term belief that the Nigerian defender will remain a cornerstone of the club’s ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
