Sky Germany reveals Victor Boniface next move ahead of January

Victor Boniface

Victor Boniface’s future at Bayer Leverkusen is facing fresh uncertainty, with reports in Germany suggesting the Nigerian striker could seek another move when the January transfer window opens.

According to Sky Germany, Boniface is unhappy with his current role at the Bundesliga club and has informed his agents that he wants to explore a temporary move in search of more regular playing time.

The report comes as Leverkusen prepare for their Europa League fixture against OFI Crete, with Boniface again absent from the squad.

Jonas Hofmann, meanwhile, was called into the starting line-up after Martin Terrier was ruled out through injury.

The latest omission adds to the uncertainty surrounding Boniface’s place in the team, although a January departure would depend on whether a suitable club is willing to take him.

Victor Boniface: Another loan move under consideration

Boniface’s previous loan spell at Werder Bremen last season failed to provide the fresh start he needed. Persistent injury problems and a lack of match fitness disrupted his campaign, limiting his ability to make a sustained impact.

The striker has since improved his physical condition and lost weight, according to the report, but he is still working towards regaining the sharpness required to compete consistently at the highest level.

That leaves him facing an important period before the winter transfer window. A move could offer an opportunity to rebuild momentum, but finding a club prepared to take him on and provide a suitable role may prove decisive.

At 25, Victor Boniface still has time to revive his career at the highest level, but regular minutes will be crucial if he is to regain his standing after a difficult run of injuries and interrupted playing time.

The possibility of another loan remains a reported intention rather than a confirmed transfer plan. Whether Leverkusen will sanction a move, and which clubs might be interested, remains unclear.

The January window could therefore become a defining moment for the Nigerian forward, whose immediate priority is to find a reliable path back to regular football.
