The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has unveiled a strict qualification process for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
In a statement signed by AFN Secretary-General Israel Inwang, the federation said only athletes who meet the official World Athletics Entry Standard or are ranked within the top 20 in their event will be selected.
According to the AFN, the move is designed to ensure that only dedicated and in-form athletes represent Nigeria at major competitions, with an emphasis on discipline, professionalism and team spirit.
