Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, are officially heading to the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup — and they did it in style, shutting down Algeria in a tense second-leg clash in Blida.
With a 4-0 win already in the bag from the first leg in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, the Flamingos entered the Stade Mustapha Tchaker with a clear mission: defend their lead, block out the noise, and kill off any hope of an Algerian ‘Remontada.’ And that’s exactly what they did.
Algeria threw everything forward, chasing the miracle their fans were praying for. But Nigeria stood firm. The Flamingos put on a disciplined, composed defensive display, frustrating the hosts and closing out the game with a 0-0 draw.
It was a performance built on maturity and tactical control — the kind of performance that turns a tough away leg into a quiet night for the scoreboard.

The result sealed a 4-0 aggregate victory and continued Nigeria’s staggering unbeaten run in U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, now at 25 matches. Since 2008, they’ve played 29 games in qualifying — with just one loss, a 1-0 defeat to Ghana in Accra, 17 years ago.
