Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has broken his silence following a fatal car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends and team members.
The 36-year-old made his first public comment since the crash in a brief but emotional social media post on Sunday, sharing a photograph of himself with the families of the deceased, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Joshua captioned the image: “My Brother’s Keeper ❤️🕊️❤️.”

The post marked Joshua’s first acknowledgement of the tragedy, offering a quiet show of support and solidarity rather than a detailed statement.
The accident occurred on Monday, December 29, on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, when the SUV carrying Joshua and three others collided with a stationary truck, reportedly due to brake failure. Ghami and Ayodele died at the scene.

Joshua narrowly escaped death after switching from the front passenger seat to the back shortly before the impact, a decision said to have been prompted by concerns that his size was obstructing the driver’s view.
He sustained a leg fracture but was reported to be in stable condition and did not require emergency medical intervention. Joshua was discharged from hospital on New Year’s Eve and returned to the United Kingdom on Saturday.

The boxer had travelled to Nigeria for a holiday following his recent knockout victory over Jake Paul.
Both victims are expected to be laid to rest later on Sunday, as tributes continue to pour in for the men described as close companions and trusted members of Joshua’s inner circle.
