Besiktas eye Terem Moffi as Tammy Abraham replacement

Besiktas have made enquiries about Nigeria forward Terem Moffi as they continue their search for a striker following the departure of former Chelsea player Tammy Abraham.

According to Turkish broadcaster NTV Spor, the Istanbul club have been informed that Moffi is available and have contacted intermediaries to understand the conditions of a possible deal.

Talks remain at an early stage and no formal offer has been made, but Besiktas are exploring options as they look to reshape their squad during the winter transfer window.

Moffi has not featured for Nice in recent weeks after being frozen out following a confrontation with supporters during a poor run of results. The 26-year-old was among several players confronted by fans after a league defeat earlier this season, an incident that led the French footballers’ union to issue a statement condemning the treatment of the players.

Since then, Moffi has been left out of matchday squads, with Nice understood to be open to a separation if suitable terms can be agreed.

The Nigeria international joined Nice from Lorient in 2023 in a deal reported to be worth around €22.5m, having established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable goalscorers. Across his senior career in France, Belgium and the Baltic states, he has scored 86 goals in 213 appearances.

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi is set to make his long-awaited return to action in March after being sidelined for the past seven months with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

While Moffi had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, Turkey has now emerged as a possible destination, with Besiktas keen to resolve their attacking issues quickly.

Any move will depend on Nice’s stance, the structure of a potential deal and personal terms, but NTV Spor reports that Besiktas see Moffi as a realistic option before the transfer window closes.
