Nigeria’s Samson Adamu is poised to take on one of the most influential roles in African football, as he looks set to replace Véron Mosengo-Omba as the new General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to African football journalist Micky Jnr, CAF President Patrice Motsepe will announce the appointment of the young Nigerian administrator who has worked his way up through the CAF structure at today’s press conference in Cairo.
Adamu, who currently serves as CAF’s Director of Competitions, has earned significant respect for his behind-the-scenes work in managing the logistics of major continental tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the CAF Champions League, and the Confederation Cup.
Samson Adamu is the son of Dr. Amos Adamu, the former FIFA Executive Committee member who was banned from football following a corruption scandal in 2010.
