The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Appeal Board has ruled that Senegal forfeited the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, with the match officially awarded 3-0 to Morocco.
The decision follows an appeal lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), which was upheld, leading to the overturning of the earlier ruling by the CAF Disciplinary Board.
CAF confirmed that Senegal’s conduct during the final fell within the scope of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations, resulting in the forfeiture and the revised scoreline in Morocco’s favour.
The Appeal Board further ruled that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) had breached Article 82 through the actions of its team, validating Morocco’s protest and formally awarding them the victory.
Separately, Ismaël Saibari was found guilty of misconduct, with his punishment reduced to a two-match suspension, one suspended, while a previously imposed $100,000 fine was cancelled.
CAF also addressed several off-field incidents involving Morocco. The federation was held responsible for the conduct of ball boys, with the fine reduced to $50,000, while a $100,000 fine for interference around the VAR review area was upheld. A separate sanction relating to a laser incident was reduced to $10,000.
All other motions in the case were dismissed, bringing a decisive end to one of the most controversial finals in AFCON history.
