Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel made an instant impact on his return to English football, starring on his Birmingham City debut in the Championship.
The 26-year-old, who arrived on a free transfer from Fenerbahce this summer, produced a commanding display at right-back in Friday’s season opener against Ipswich Town.
Birmingham took the lead early in the second half through Jay Stansfield, only to be pegged back in stoppage time by George Hirst’s penalty.

Despite the late setback, Osayi-Samuel’s energy, defensive steel and attacking intent caught the eye, earning him the Man of the Match award on his first competitive outing for the Blues.

He completed 53 touches, registered one key pass, made an interception, and won five of his 10 duels across the 90 minutes.
