BUA Group pledges major bonus as Nigeria close in on AFCON glory

BUA Group chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu has announced a $500,000 incentive for the Super Eagles should they win their semi-final match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The pledge was made shortly after Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals, a result that secured the Super Eagles a place in the last four of the tournament.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Saturday, Rabiu praised the team’s discipline and composure against what he described as a strong Algerian side, saying the performance had lifted the mood of the nation.

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria,” Rabiu said.

“You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.”

According to the BUA chairman, lifting the AFCON trophy would attract an additional $1m bonus, along with a further $100,000 for every goal scored in the final.
