The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and PUMA have unveiled the official match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Named ITRI, meaning “star” in tribute to Morocco’s flag, the ball combines cultural inspiration with modern football technology.
The ITRI match ball will retail for €130 (around 210,000 NGN) in select markets. Fans will see it in action when AFCON 2025 kicks off on December 21, 2025, with hosts Morocco taking on Comoros in the opening match.
1. Inspired by Moroccan heritage
The ITRI ball takes its design from zellij, Morocco’s centuries-old geometric mosaic art. Its patterns celebrate the host nation’s cultural legacy and highlight the artistry that runs through African football.

2. A symbol of African unity
Every detail on the ball carries meaning. Star shapes represent ambition, petal designs symbolize growth, and circular symmetry reflects the unity of the 24 nations competing at AFCON 2025.
3. Built for performance
The ball is powered by PUMA’s Orbita 6 technology, delivering consistent flight, better control, and high durability, the same tech used in top professional leagues worldwide.
4. Collaborative design process
ITRI was developed through a joint effort between CAF’s design team, led by Mohamed Ghonemi, and PUMA’s global innovation unit.
