CAFWCLQ: Bayelsa Queens cruise into semi-finals after perfect group stage

Bayelsa Queens sealed a semi-final spot at the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a win over Sam-Nelly, finishing Group B unbeaten.

Bayelsa Queens FC maintained their 100% record at the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a 4-1 win over Sam-Nelly of Benin Republic in Yamoussoukro.

Janet Akekoromowei scored twice, striking in both halves, while Shakirat Moshood and Alaba Olabiyi added their names to the scoresheet in a commanding display.

The Prosperity Girls had already won their opening two matches, scoring five goals and conceding just twice, and Saturday’s victory confirmed them as Group B leaders with nine points.

Akekoromowei opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Moshood doubled the lead on 35 minutes. Sam-Nelly pulled one back through Kalu Favour just before half-time.

Olabiyi restored the two-goal cushion ten minutes after the restart, before Akekoromowei sealed the win four minutes later with her second of the match.
