Chicago Stars acquire Michelle Alozie as Houston Dash receive $40,000 in allocation

Chicago Stars FC have completed the signing of Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie from Houston Dash in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money.

The defender has agreed a three-year contract that will keep her with the Stars until the end of the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League season.

Alozie, 28, leaves Houston after four seasons in which she became a regular contributor at both ends of the pitch, scoring seven goals and providing two assists across league play.

“CHI TOWN! I’m excited to be starting a new chapter with the Stars,” Alozie said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the team, connecting with them on and off the field, and seeing you fans, both in the city and in the stands.”

Chicago Stars general manager Richard Feuz described the signing as part of the club’s long-term planning.

“Michelle’s proven ability at both ends of the pitch, experience and leadership skills will be valuable assets for our team over the next few years,” he said. “We are excited to welcome her to Chicago as we continue to build for 2026.”

Alozie joined the Dash in 2021 as a national team replacement player before earning a full contract later that season. She played a key role in Houston’s first-ever NWSL play-off appearance in 2022 and enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023, finishing as one of the club’s leading goalscorers with four goals.

Across all competitions, she made 80 appearances for Houston, starting 37 matches, and helped the club return to the post-season in 2022.

She represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games, and was part of the squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, earning a place in the tournament’s Best XI. She was also shortlisted for the FIFPRO Women’s World XI.
