Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche has outshined Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal to become the best Under-21 player in total duels won across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
Since joining Getafe from Ceuta last summer, Uche has been a revelation, registering three goals and four assists in 32 appearances.
According to Squawka, Uche has won an impressive 191 duels this season, surpassing Yamal, who sits at 179. Other top young players in the rankings include Andy Santos, Patrick Dorgu, Mateus Fernandes, Diego Coppola, Omar El Hilali, Carlos Baleba, Nico Paz, and Tom Bischof.
However, high-profile names like Alejandro Garnacho, Gavi, and Jude Bellingham are absent from the list.

How Does Uche Compare to Yamal?
While Uche leads in physical battles, Yamal has already made his mark as one of football’s brightest young stars.
The 17-year-old Barcelona winger has recorded 13 goals and 17 assists in 38 appearances, earning a staggering €180 million valuation and even emerging as a Ballon d’Or contender.

Uche, on the other hand, is still establishing himself at the top level. A move to a bigger club could accelerate his development and put him in the spotlight alongside the world’s best young talents.

Born in May 2003 in Owerri, Nigeria, Uche overcame humble beginnings to carve out a path in professional football. He started at Nigerian academy Campos FA before moving to Spain in 2022, joining Moralo.

After a short spell at AC Ceuta, he secured a €500,000 transfer to Getafe, where his market value has since soared to €8 million.
Although he has never played for Nigeria’s youth teams, Uche was named in the Super Eagles’ provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers but did not make the final cut.
