Super Falcons of Nigeria will face the Portugal women’s national team in an international friendly match this June as part of their buildup to the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The reigning queens of African women’s football are expected to play three warm-up matches between May and June 2025. The first will be against European side Portugal, while the remaining two will be against top-tier African opposition in May.
This match will mark the Falcons’ first outing since their narrow 2-1 loss to France on November 30, 2024, in Angers.

Despite the defeat, the game was historic, with Ifeoma Onumonu netting Nigeria’s first-ever goal against Les Bleues. Prior to that, Nigeria hosted Algeria in a two-legged friendly series in Ikenne and Lagos.

The 2024 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025, in Morocco. The draw for the tournament, held on November 22, 2024, placed Nigeria in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
