Nigerian international midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has secured his future with English Championship side Watford after reaching an agreement for a one-year contract extension.

Dele-Bashiru initially joined Watford in the 2019/20 season and had previously signed a three-year contract extension with an additional one-year option. With the current season drawing to a close, the club has now activated that option, reinforcing their faith in the midfielder’s abilities.

The 24-year-old will remain at Vicarage Road until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Commitment to Watford’s Promotion Push

In an interview with Africafoot, sources from Kingdom Sports Management, which represents Dele-Bashiru, confirmed the development and emphasized Watford’s belief in his contribution to their Premier League aspirations.

“Tom will stay at Watford beyond this season. The club has decided to activate the contract option for an additional season. This is good news, as it shows that they are confident that he can still help them in their quest for a return to the Premier League,” the source revealed.

Dele-Bashiru has been a key figure for Watford this season, making 24 appearances across the Championship and EFL Cup while contributing four goals.

Since joining the club, he has featured in 112 matches, scoring 11 times. His market value is currently estimated at €1.2 million, highlighting his growing influence in the squad.

Tom, senior brother of Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, has yet to earn a senior call-up to the Nigerian national team.

However, he has previously represented the Super Eagles at youth levels, featuring in the U20 and U23 teams.
