D’tigress head coach Rena Wakama has been appointed head coach of Hive Basketball Club in the United States’ Unrivaled League.
The announcement, made on Thursday, marks another major step in Wakama’s coaching rise. The Unrivaled League is a women’s three-on-three competition designed for elite players during the WNBA off-season.
Hive BC will debut in the league’s second season in 2026, with Wakama leading the new franchise.

At 33, Wakama has guided Nigeria’s D’Tigress to record success, including a historic Olympic quarter-final appearance in Paris 2024 and multiple Afrobasket titles.

Her role as Chicago Sky assistant coach earlier this year further boosted her reputation as one of basketball’s most promising coaches.
