“Dump Milan or be dumped”- Obafemi Martins warns Chukwueze

Obafemi Martins urges Samuel Chukwueze to leave AC Milan for regular playing time, warning it’s crucial for his Super Eagles future.

Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has issued a stark warning to Samuel Chukwueze, urging the winger to leave AC Milan in order to secure regular playing time and protect his Super Eagles future.

Since his arrival from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, Chukwueze has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Milan, managing just four goals in 47 Serie A appearances.

The lack of consistent minutes has led to a dip in his form, which is now affecting his performances with the Super Eagles.

Martins, who enjoyed a successful career in both club and international football, believes that Chukwueze’s current situation at Milan is jeopardizing his place in the national team.

“The Saudi Pro League is becoming more competitive. If a good offer comes along, why not?” Martins said, as quoted by Africa Foot.

“The main thing is for him to play and regain his rhythm. Confidence is key for a player like him.”

The former Inter Milan forward added that Chukwueze’s struggles at club level are already showing with the Super Eagles, and that a move away from Milan is essential for him to remain a key player for Nigeria.

“His decline in form at club level is reflected in his performances with the Super Eagles,” Martins stated. “If he wants to keep his place, he needs to play regularly. A transfer is necessary for him to regain his rhythm and stay relevant for Nigeria.”

Chukwueze, at just 25 years old, still has time on his side, but with the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers approaching, the pressure is on for him to secure regular playing time.
