Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has been given until December 11 to submit his final 23-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
CAF requires all participating nations to submit their final squads 10 days before the tournament, which kicks off on December 21 with hosts Morocco taking on Comoros.
The 55-man provisional lists were due on November 21, and while teams may name up to 27 players, CAF will provide logistics and accommodation for only 23.

CAF allows teams to register up to 27 players for major competitions, but will fund only 23, leaving federations to cover the costs of any additional call-ups.
This marks the first major step in Nigeria’s AFCON preparations, with the Super Eagles’ training camp set to open on 8 December in Morocco. Nigeria will begin their campaign on 23 December, with the tournament running until 18 January 2026. The Nigeria Football Federation said the preliminary list will be released soon.

Some nations, including South Africa, have already unveiled their provisional squads. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos named a 54-man squad featuring 12 foreign-based players.
