Ezeaku pushes Rangers youth agenda global with International football academy visit

General Manager and CEO of Rangers International FC, Amobi Ezeaku, has taken the club’s youth development vision beyond Nigeria’s borders to Cairo, Egypt.

While on a personal holiday in the Egyptian capital, Ezeaku made a stop at the International Football Academy (IFA) Egypt, one of the continent’s largest and most successful youth football institutions.

The visit, at the invitation of IFA founder Mohammed Gamal, reflects Ezeaku’s deepening commitment to building a globally connected and structurally sound development pathway for young players in Nigeria.

“From the moment I stepped into the academy, it was clear: passion, structure, and purpose are the lifeblood of IFA, the energy was contagious” Ezeaku shared via social media.

The visit comes at a pivotal time for the Rangers’ youth setup. The club’s U-17 team, known as the Rangers Youth Team, is set to compete in Lagos from June 20–21, with a place at the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Finals in Germany on the line.

Since taking office, the young CEO has introduced a sweeping overhaul of the club’s grassroots operations, launching the Rangers Academicals, implementing community scouting initiatives, and promoting mentorship-based coaching.

“As we continue to strengthen Rangers International FC’s Youth Development Program, our eyes are firmly set on global best practices, international collaboration, and meaningful exchange. IFA’s success story presents invaluable insights, and we’re excited about future possibilities between our institutions,” Ezeaku added.

For a club long synonymous with senior-level success, Rangers’ renewed grassroots agenda is a deliberate shift in focus — and one that is now bearing fruit. As the young Flying Antelopes gear up for their biggest challenge yet in Lagos, the visit to Cairo underscores a wider ambition: building a future where Nigerian talent competes and thrives on the world stage.

“The future of African football lies in its children, and we at Rangers are committed to building it, brick by brick, game by game,” Ezeaku said.
