Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will mark their 100th appearance at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday as they face Kenya in a crucial Group B encounter at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side need only a draw to reach the quarter-finals, but a victory could see them top the group—provided Tunisia avoid defeat against Morocco in the group’s other concluding fixture.
Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm local time.

Nigeria currently sit second in Group B with four points, having held Morocco to a 0–0 draw before edging Tunisia 1–0 in a tightly contested affair.
Defensively sound, the Flying Eagles are yet to concede a goal, though they remain the lowest scorers in the group with just a single goal to their credit.
Nigeria have everything to play for, Kenya have already been eliminated after back-to-back defeats to Morocco (3–2) and Tunisia (3–1). Yet, pride remains a powerful motivator, and the East Africans will be eager to finish their campaign on a high by upsetting one of the tournament’s traditional heavyweights.

History heavily favors Nigeria. The two nations have clashed multiple times across different age levels, with Nigeria enjoying a dominant record stretching back to 1968.
From World Cup qualifiers to AFCON group-stage matches and Olympic qualifiers, Nigeria has consistently come out on top, including memorable wins such as the 3-0 triumph in a 1986 World Cup qualifier and a 3-1 victory in Lagos.
Despite their attacking struggles in Egypt so far, Nigeria will hope that their disciplined backline and historical superiority provide the edge needed to seal victory—and possibly top spot in the group.
