Fulham Football Club has rejected a £21.5 million (approximately N44 billion) bid from Atletico Madrid for Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi. The Spanish giants had made the offer as part of their summer rebuild, but Fulham has made it clear that Iwobi remains central to their long-term plans.
Iwobi, who joined Fulham from Everton in September 2023 for a fee believed to be around £22 million, has enjoyed a solid run in West London. He has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to his tireless work rate and adaptability across midfield and attacking positions. With three years left on his current contract, Iwobi is valued highly by Fulham, and the club is not willing to let him go without a significant offer.
According to reports, Iwobi was offered personal terms worth around £115,000 per week by Atletico Madrid. However, neither Fulham nor the player saw the move coming, and Iwobi is reportedly settled in London and focused on continuing his progress under Marco Silva’s leadership.

Since arriving at Craven Cottage, Iwobi has notched up 15 goals and 8 assists in 77 appearances. His performances have attracted attention across Europe, but Fulham is in no rush to part with one of their most reliable performers. Iwobi’s career has been firmly rooted in English football, and he has played for Arsenal and Everton, earning 80 caps and scoring 10 goals for Nigeria.

Fulham is keen to build around Iwobi’s experience and versatility, and any suitor hoping to lure him away from Craven Cottage will likely need to offer considerably more, both in fee and ambition. For now, Fulham is staying firm, and Iwobi is expected to continue playing a key role in the team’s plans.
