The Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF) has praised teams, officials and volunteers for their roles in delivering a successful second edition of the 10th Senate President’s U-18 Unity Cup, held in Abuja.
The nationwide youth tournament featured male and female teams from across the country, with GRASOF saying the event showcased rising talent and strong community support.
In a statement, the federation thanked its president, Hon. John Bassey Ekpenyong, and Hon. Ali Muhammad Dauda, chairman of Mobilisation and Partnership, alongside state coordinators and sub-committees for what it described as tireless work throughout the competition.
Tanko Baba of Nasarawa won the boys’ category, while Elegant Angel of Akwa Ibom claimed the girls’ title. Essien Udim of Akwa Ibom and FCT Ladies finished as runners-up in the male and female categories respectively.
Great Olympics of Lagos and Plateau’s Horvel Prime secured third place, with Jaguar FC of Abia and Niger’s Young Stars completing the top four.
GRASOF said the teams displayed “commendable sportsmanship” and wished all participants safe travels back to their various states.
The federation also confirmed that Delta State will host the third edition of the competition in 2026, marking the tournament’s first appearance in the South-South since its restructured format began.
GRASOF said preparations for Asaba would begin immediately, calling it “the next step in expanding grassroots football development across the country.”
