Gwadangwa FC defeated Clement Iyke FC 2–1 in an exciting opener of the ICAP Super New Haven League 2025, played on Sunday at New Haven Primary School.
Nze opened the scoring for Gwadangwa FC, giving them an early lead. Clement Iyke FC responded as Theophilus Odo equalised to level the match. The winner came late from Precious Agu, who converted a perfect rebound to secure all three points for Gwadangwa.
Clement Iyke FC almost equalised again, as striker Somoto was denied in a one-on-one by a spectacular save from the Gwadangwa goalkeeper.
The tournament features six teams divided into two groups:
Group A: Clement Iyke FC, Gwadangwa FC, City Boys
Group B: R-Linders FC, Parliament FC, Omega FC
The next match sees Omega FC face R-Linders FC on Wednesday 12th November, at 3pm at the New Haven Primary School pitch. The finals of the ICAP Super New Haven League 2025 are scheduled for Saturday, 7th December.

Speaking to Prime Sports Radio yesterday, Coach Sexy, the event coordinator, praised the grassroots football initiative and stressed fair play.
“This competition is not just about football; it is about uniting the New Haven community and giving our young talents a platform to shine,” he said.

“We are grateful to ICAP for supporting this initiative, and we look forward to turning this into an annual festival that celebrates sports, culture, and togetherness.”
On fair play, he added: “We want every player to respect the rules, respect each other, and remember that how you play the game is just as important as winning it. Fair play is at the heart of this league.”
