The club acknowledged the overwhelming backing from the Imo State Government, particularly through the State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, and the Imo Football Association led by Barrister Ifeanyi Dike. Heartland FC admitted that while the team fought hard, their performance was not enough to secure survival, leaving the passionate Imo football community disappointed.
“We apologize to Governor Uzodinma, Imo football stakeholders, and our esteemed fans for failing to maintain our darling club’s status in the NPFL. Imo people deserved better,” the statement continued. “This is a painful moment for all of us, but we appeal for unity and collective effort to rebuild the team. The pain of today cannot overshadow the joy of a brighter tomorrow.”
Drawing inspiration from resilience, the club reassured supporters of their commitment to restructuring and returning stronger. “This setback should serve as a lesson to inspire our comeback. The darkest hour is just before dawn, and though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning. We pledge our total dedication to rebuilding Heartland FC and restoring pride to Imo football,” the statement concluded.
