Morocco have reached their first-ever FIFA U20 World Cup final after a dramatic penalty shootout win over France at the Elías Figueroa Brander Stadium Municipal in Valparaíso, Chile.
The Atlas Lions edged the semi-final 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time, becoming only the third African nation after Ghana and Nigeria to reach the final.
An own goal by French goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta gave Morocco the lead, but Lucas Michel levelled for France midway through the second half.

Substitute goalkeeper Abdelhakim El Mesbahi, introduced late in extra time, was the hero, saving the decisive spot-kick from Djylian Nguessan.

The result sparked wild celebrations as Morocco sealed their place in Sunday’s final against Argentina, who beat Colombia 1-0 in the other semi-final.

It marks Morocco’s best-ever finish at the tournament, surpassing their fourth-place result in 2005. They now stand on the brink of becoming Africa’s first North African champions at U20 level.
