Hull City are close to completing a deal for Nigeria international Semi Ajayi following the defender’s departure from West Bromwich Albion.
Ajayi, 31, became a free agent after his contract at The Hawthorns expired at the end of the 2024/25 season, bringing an end to a six-year stay at the club where he made 170 league appearances.
According to Hull Daily Mail, the Tigers are expected to finalise an agreement with Ajayi in the coming days, with personal terms reportedly nearing completion.
The move would see the centre-back join the project under newly appointed manager Sergej Jakirovic, who replaced Ruben Selles in June.

Ajayi, who has been capped 43 times by the Super Eagles, featured less prominently in West Brom’s campaign last season due to injury.

A hamstring issue sustained in October kept him out for four months, and a recurrence shortly after his return ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
Despite the fitness concerns, Hull views Ajayi as a valuable addition to a squad that narrowly avoided relegation to League One.
Jakirovic is overseeing a significant rebuild at the MKM Stadium, and Ajayi’s experience is seen as crucial for defensive stability.

During his time at West Brom, the former Rotherham United defender also featured in the Premier League, making 33 appearances during the 2020/21 season. His initial move to the Baggies in 2019 reportedly cost between £1.5 and £2 million.
Hull’s interest comes as part of their wider reshuffle under Jakirovic, who previously managed Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor.
