Igoh Ogbu faces weeks on the sidelines with suspected muscle tear

Igoh Ogbu could be out for several weeks after suffering a suspected adductor muscle tear in his groin, according to Slavia head coach.

Super Eagles and Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu could be out for several weeks after suffering a suspected adductor muscle tear in his groin, according to Slavia head coach Jindrich Trpisovsky.

Ogbu, who recently received his first call-up to the Nigerian national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, did not feature in either match.

Upon his return to Slavia Prague, he was left out of the squad for their league fixture against FK Dukla Prague on Saturday due to physical discomfort.

“I don’t have a full report yet; he is scheduled for an MRI,” Trpisovsky told the club’s official website.

The coach fears that Ogbu may have suffered a muscle tear, which could keep him out for weeks.

“The initial assessment suggests a tear in the adductor muscle. He had a similar injury before and recovered quicker than expected. We will have more details after the scan.”
