Ihezuo brace helps Pachuca edge Juarez in Liga MX Femenil thriller

Super Falcons Striker Chinwendu Ihezuo scored twice to inspire reigning champions Pachuca Femenil to a 3-2 comeback win over FC Juarez on Saturday.

Juarez took an early lead through Dayana Martin in the ninth minute, but Pachuca responded quickly. American youth international Ayooluwa Oke equalised five minutes later with her first-ever league goal.

Juarez regained the lead in the 26th minute through Liliana Mercado, only for Ihezuo to strike twice before halftime to secure the victory. The Super Falcons forward now has four goals this season in six appearances.

Ihezuo played the full 90 minutes, receiving a yellow card in the 74th minute. Fellow Nigerian and 2024 WAFCON winner Osinachi Ohale started in defence but was replaced at halftime by Andrea Pereira.

Oke was substituted in the 82nd minute for club legend Veronica Corral.

Ihezuo scored 15 goals in 39 matches last season having previously played for Monterrey in Mexico and China for Henan Jianye.

The win moves Pachuca to second place in the Liga MX Femenil table with 23 points, just one behind leaders Club América. They host Necaxa on September 15, 2025.

Historically, Pachuca have dominated this fixture, winning seven of 14 encounters since 2019. In their last five games, Pachuca have averaged 3.4 goals per match.
