Isaac Saviour joins Ittihad SC after breakout NPFL season with Rangers

Nigerian midfielder Isaac Saviour has signed a two-year contract with Egyptian Premier League side Ittihad Alexandria, completing his first move abroad after a stellar campaign with Rangers International.

The 23-year-old joins Ittihad on the back of his best-ever season as a professional, where he netted nine goals to finish as Rangers’ top scorer during the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Across two seasons in the NPFL, Saviour made 54 league appearances, scored 12 goals, and provided 6 assists. He also featured in four CAF Champions League matches.

Saviour began his professional journey with the now-defunct Vandrezzer FC in the Nigeria National League before moving to Rangers, where he helped guide the club to their eighth league title in the 2023/24 campaign.

His domestic performances earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles, where he featured on the bench in the Unity Cup in London and a friendly against Russia.

He also played a key role in Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scoring a standout goal in a 3–0 win over Ghana in his hometown, Uyo.

He was initially expected to be part of coach Eric Chelle’s CHAN squad for the tournament co-hosted by Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya in August.

However, his move to Egypt has made him ineligible for selection, as CHAN rules allow only players based in their home domestic leagues.

After a career-best season with Rangers, Isaac Saviour has joined Egyptian side Ittihad SC, marking his first professional move abroad.
