Iheanacho Kelechi made a promising comeback as he delivered his first goal for Middlesbrough in their 2-1 win over Oxford last weekend. And coach Michael Carrick named him in the starting eleven when they visited Blackburn.
Iheanacho’s constant persistence finally paid off, as he provided the assist for Tommy Conway, who scored the opener for Middlesbrough in the second minute. Then, just six minutes later, Iheanacho created the second for Middlesbrough, laying off the ball for Samuel Iling Junior, who struck a rocket of a shot into the bottom right corner to make it 2-0.
He could have scored the third for Middlesbrough in the 15th minute after getting one-on-one with the Blackburn goalkeeper, but he fluffed his lines.
The Super Eagles star got another chance just before the break, but he failed to convert after Mark Travers played him through on goal.
After a blunt first half, Blackburn picked up the pace in the second half. However, they failed to rattle the net.
Iheanacho was taken out of the game in the 85th minute. But his assists were just enough to seal the 2-0 win for Middlesbrough.

Kelechi Iheanacho seems to be hitting form, as he now has three goal involvements in his last two games for Middlesbrough.
However, he still has a lot lot prove, as the club is fighting to make the Championship playoff spots. If he keeps banging in the goals, he could just help his side climb up to the Premier.
