Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo is reportedly on the verge of joining Major League Soccer side New York City FC. The experienced centre-back has been without a club since leaving Kasimpasa in Turkey in January 2025.
Despite being a free agent, Omeruo has attracted significant interest from several clubs, with New York City FC now leading the race for his signature.
According to Africafoot, the MLS club is in advanced discussions with the Nigerian international and is expected to finalize the deal ahead of the next season.
Omeruo, who was a key part of Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, boasts over 300 career appearances across multiple top European leagues, including stints with Chelsea, Ado Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Standard de Liège, and Leganes.
