FC Barcelona have officially announced that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2030–31 season. The new deal cements the 17-year-old’s future with the Catalan giants amid his meteoric rise in world football.

The contract was signed on Tuesday at the club’s offices in the presence of club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco. While Barcelona have not disclosed the financial details, multiple Spanish outlets report that Yamal is set to become one of the highest earners in the squad.

According to these reports, the winger’s annual salary could reach approximately €19 million after taxes.

Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, appeared to allude to the lucrative deal on Instagram, posting a celebratory message about the extension with the number “19.3” written above – a possible nod to the reported salary figure.

Yamal’s rapid rise has been nothing short of sensational. He broke into the Barcelona first team last season, setting multiple records in La Liga as one of the youngest debutants and scorers in club history. His stardom skyrocketed at the UEFA European Championship, where he played a pivotal role in Spain’s triumphant campaign, becoming the youngest player to feature and score in the tournament.

This season, Yamal further solidified his reputation with a string of standout performances, including a stunning display against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League semifinals. Despite Barcelona’s exit in what many described as one of the most thrilling ties in recent memory, Yamal’s individual brilliance drew global acclaim, with pundits hailing him as one of the best players in the world at just 17.

The new deal means the prodigy will remain at Barcelona through what will be his formative years, turning 23 by the end of the contract, an age where many players are only beginning to hit their peak.

After helping the Blaugrana secure a domestic double this season, Yamal remains focused and grounded. Speaking to CNN in December, he reflected on his rapid ascent: “It’s true that things have happened very quickly. I don’t think this is normal for a teenager. I think it’s nice being the first teenager to be doing these things.

“In the end, I only think of the future. I only think of the good things that happen and that’s it. As my mother says, ‘Always enjoy the moment because everything goes by so quickly.’”
