Liverpool eye Victor Osimhen as striker search intensifies

Liverpool are eyeing Victor Osimhen as a summer transfer target to bolster their attack, following the striker’s 37-goal season at Galatasaray

Premier League champions Liverpool are weighing up a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as part of their plans to strengthen their attacking line-up ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 26-year-old Nigerian international enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Galatasaray last season, where he netted an astonishing 37 goals in all competitions and contributed eight assists, helping the Turkish giants clinch both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.

According to Caughtoffside, Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, are seriously considering a bid as they look to add firepower to their front line.

The Reds’ current striking options have come under scrutiny, particularly after Darwin Núñez managed just seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season.

Osimhen, widely regarded as one of the top No. 9s in Europe, fits that profile perfectly. His blend of power, movement, and goal-scoring instinct has seen him previously described as “a force of nature”, and he would offer Liverpool a direct and dynamic presence at the top end of the pitch.

The Nigerian forward is also reportedly attracting interest from Manchester United, while Chelsea were earlier linked before shifting their focus to Liam Delap.

Liverpool, however, may now be front-runners. With UEFA Champions League football on offer at Anfield next season, the Merseyside club could present Osimhen with the ideal platform to compete for major silverware at the highest level.

A move to England would mark the next significant chapter in Osimhen’s career, as he seeks to add to his growing collection of honours and test himself in what many consider the world’s most competitive league.

Whether Liverpool can negotiate a suitable deal with Napoli remains to be seen, but Osimhen’s name is certainly one to watch as the summer transfer window heats up.
