Liverpool launch audacious bid to sign Super Eagles Victor Osimhen

Arsenal icon Robert Pires has called on Mikel Arteta to make a decisive move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, believing the Super Eagles forward could be the key to the club’s Premier League title aspirations.

Liverpool has reportedly launched a bold bid to sign Napoli’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen, offering a package of cash and two first-team stars to secure the Nigerian’s signature.

According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, the Reds have proposed a deal that includes Darwin Núñez, Federico Chiesa, and £17 million in cash.

Napoli, however, is said to be listening but wants more, despite the offer potentially exceeding Osimhen’s €75 million release clause.

The transfer fee could be worth €135 million, considering the valuation of Núñez and Chiesa, who were signed for €100 million and €15 million respectively.

Osimhen’s exclusion from Napoli’s long-term plans under Antonio Conte has led to interest from top clubs, including PSG and Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has been in excellent form while on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals in all competitions for the Turkish giants.

Victor Osimhen ended the 2024/2025 season with double awards at Galatasaray, winning Player of the Season and claiming the Süper Lig top scorer.

Liverpool’s motivation behind the bid is to bolster their attack, with new manager Arne Slot wanting an elite No. 9 to defend the Premier League title.

Osimhen’s pace, strength, and clinical finishing make him an attractive target. Reports suggest Liverpool has reached an agreement with Napoli for the transfer, valued between €75 million and €80 million, with a medical examination already scheduled.

The transfer market has seen inflated fees for top strikers, and Osimhen’s price could drive up further with Manchester United also in the mix.

Osimhen reportedly wants a salary of £400,000 per week at his next club and has turned down offers from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

With Arsenal and Manchester United also hunting strikers, the coming weeks promise a high-stakes transfer battle
