Ademola Lookman stole the spotlight in a thrilling Nigerian showdown at the San Siro, as his Atalanta side triumphed 1-0 over AC Milan in Serie A on Sunday night.
In a match that pitted two Super Eagles stars against each other, Lookman’s influential performance helped Atalanta secure all three points, while Samuel Chukwueze, who came on as a substitute, couldn’t inspire Milan to a comeback.
From the start, Lookman was lively for Atalanta, contributing to his team’s attack with his pace and skill. He tested Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a shot on target early in the first half but was unable to convert.
Chukwueze, on the other hand, was a surprising absentee from the starting lineup. The Milan winger, known for his flair, was introduced in the 78th minute in an effort to spark Milan’s attack after they had fallen behind.

The first half saw both teams playing with decent intensity, creating a few chances here and there, but neither side could break the deadlock before the break.
The match’s defining moment came early in the second half, when Ederson converted a Raoul Bellanova cut-back in the 62nd minute, giving Atalanta the lead.
Milan reacted by pushing forward, and Chukwueze was brought on to add some urgency to their attack. However, despite Milan’s late surge, they could not break through Atalanta’s defense, and the visitors held on to secure the victory.

Samuel Chukwueze came on in the 78th minute to replace Fikayo Tomori as Milan pushed for an equalizer. Unfortunately, his seven-minute cameo didn’t produce any significant chances
Ademola Lookman was at the heart of Atalanta’s attacking play, remaining a constant threat throughout the match. He registered a shot on target and had three other attempts blocked by Milan’s defense.

Lookman was involved in the buildup for much of the game, creating a big chance and delivering three key passes. His passing was excellent, with a completion rate of 90%, successfully connecting 27 of his 30 attempts.
Although Lookman’s sole dribble attempt didn’t come off, he was a key figure for his team, with 56 touches on the ball. He also stood out in aerial duels, winning both of the ones he contested, while also winning two of his six ground duels.
