Nigeria have named a 14-player squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which begins on 31 August.
Agboya Peculiar will captain the Female Yellow Greens, leading a side that blends experience with emerging talent.
The squad includes established names such as Lucky Piety, Victory Igbinedion, Salome Sunday and Kehinde Amusa, while debutant Omonkhobhio Oseyande earns her first call-up.
Speaking after the announcement, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) president Dr Uyi Akpata said:
“This squad represents the future of women’s cricket in Nigeria. Their talent and resilience reflect our development strategy, and we are optimistic about their prospects at the Qualifier.”
Nigeria begin their campaign against Sierra Leone on 31 August, before facing Namibia on 1 September and rounding off group action against Zimbabwe on 3 September.

The announcement comes on the back of Nigeria’s impressive outing at the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, where the Junior Female Yellow Greens defeated Ireland and New Zealand to finish third in their Super Six group, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals.
That campaign also saw captain Lucky Piety etch her name into the history books by striking the first-ever six for Nigeria in an ICC women’s World Cup match.

Reflecting on that achievement, Dr Akpata said it had provided “a huge psychological lift” for the senior team:
“The U-19s showed the world that Nigeria can compete at the highest level. That energy has carried into the senior side, and this group has the confidence to go one step further.”
