Maduka Okoye sends strong message as transfer war brews between EPL and Serie A clubs

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye sets his sights on a top-10 Serie A finish with Udinese, as AC Milan and Bournemouth battle for him.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is staying focused on the present, even as transfer interest from AC Milan and Bournemouth heats up ahead of the summer window.

The Udinese shot-stopper has set his sights on finishing the 2024/2025 Serie A season in the top 10 with his club.

“I want to help Udinese finish in tenth position,” said Okoye, who has quietly put together a solid campaign in Italy’s top flight.

Currently 11th on the table and level on points (40) with Torino, Udinese are within touching distance of that goal. With six matches remaining, Okoye and his teammates are aiming to leapfrog their mid-table rivals and close out the season strong.

The Nigerian international has featured in 19 Serie A games this term, keeping three clean sheets and recording a 66.3% save rate, emerging as a key figure in Udinese’s steady performances.

Okoye’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Premier League side Bournemouth have already submitted a €13 million bid (around ₦23 billion), per Africafoot, as they look to secure the 24-year-old ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

However, AC Milan who previously tried to sign the former Sparta Rotterdam keeper in 2023 are also closely monitoring his situation. While Udinese are likely to resist letting go of their No.1 easily, they could be swayed by the right offer, especially given Okoye’s contract runs until June 2028.

Despite the transfer speculation swirling around him, Okoye remains grounded, focused on pushing Udinese toward their top-10 target before what could be a career-defining summer move.
