Jamaica head coach Steve McClaren has admitted his Reggae Boyz are facing a “huge test” in Saturday’s Unity Cup final against a formidable Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The clash at the Gtech Community Stadium in London will see two of the most vibrant footballing nations from the Caribbean and Africa battle for bragging rights in the final of the four-nation invitational tournament.

Nigeria booked their spot in the showpiece event with a gritty 2-1 win over long-time rivals Ghana, while Jamaica edged past Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in a thrilling semi-final encounter that highlighted their attacking prowess and fighting spirit.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, McClaren, who managed the England national team between 2006 and 2007, praised the Super Eagles’ quality and organization.

“Nigeria are very well organised, very athletic, and very strong. So this is going to be a huge test for our players, but one I’m looking forward to,” McClaren said.

“If we can come out of the Unity Cup with two games and two wins, it would be a great experience to take forward. We don’t want to let anybody down. We want a good performance and, as usual, fight together.”
