Georgi Minoungou, a 22-year-old Ivorian professional footballer, has defied adversity to pursue his dreams. Born on July 25, 2002, in Batiebly-Douibly, Côte d’Ivoire, Minoungou rose through the ranks to become a winger for Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders FC.
Despite facing a severe setback in 2023, when a serious infection in his left eye led to surgery and blindness, Minoungou refused to give up on his football career
Minoungou’s determination and resilience are an inspiration to many. After losing sight in one eye, he could have easily lost hope, but instead, he chose to focus on his abilities rather than his disability. “This disability doesn’t limit me. I believe I can do even better than those with two eyes,” he said.

Minoungou began his career with Czech side MFK Vyškov before joining Tacoma Defiance, the reserve team of Seattle Sounders FC.
His impressive performances earned him a promotion to the Seattle Sounders FC first team, and he made his debut in the Club World Cup. Minoungou has also represented the Ivory Coast national under-20 football team, demonstrating his potential and talent on the international stage
