Musa fires Kano Pillars past Rangers as Enyimba go top of NPFL

Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa marked his comeback in style as Kano Pillars claimed their first win of the season, while Enyimba climbed to the top of the NPFL table after a commanding away display.

Back in the side after a two-week injury layoff, former Nigerian International Ahmed Musa struck the decisive goal on 65 minutes to hand Kano Pillars victory over Rangers in Kano.

The 32-year-old, who also doubles as the club’s General Manager, showed flashes of his trademark pace and composure, finishing off a solo run to seal the win. Earlier, Rabiu Ali missed a penalty and blazed the rebound over after Mubarak Sani was fouled in the box.

For Rangers, it was another setback on the road. Following their morale-boosting win over Plateau United on Matchday 3, Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men are still searching for their first away goal of the season.

In Port Harcourt, Ubong Friday proved the difference as Rivers United edged Shooting Stars in Port Harcourt.

The forward struck on 72 minutes, scoring in consecutive home games to become the Pride of Rivers’ leading scorer with two goals this season.

Finidi George’s side maintained their unbeaten run and moved up to second place, while Shooting Stars remain bottom of the table and winless after four games.

Plateau United 2–0 Remo Stars

Plateau United secured their first win of the season, overcoming defending champions Remo Stars in Jos.

Tarabina Biweribo opened the scoring with a header on 63 minutes, before Mafeng Pam doubled the lead late on. Shola Adegun’s side now have momentum, while Remo Stars suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

Bayelsa United 0–2 Enyimba

Enyimba delivered a professional away performance in Yenagoa, with goals from Chidera Michael and Kalu Nweke sealing victory.

Ahmed Musa marked his return with a goal for Kano Pillars against Rangers as Enyimba climbed to the top of the NPFL table on Matchday 4.

The nine-time champions remain unbeaten and are the only side yet to concede a goal this season. With eight points from four games, Stanley Eguma’s men sit top of the league.

In Umauhia, Center back Somiari Alalibo’s strike just after half-time gave Abia Warriors their second win of the season, edging out Katsina United in Umuahia.
