Nasarawa United turn to Mbwas Mangut ahead of NPFL 2025/26 Season

Nasarawa United appoint former Plateau United coach Mangut Mbwas as part of preparations for the upcoming NPFL season.

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Nasarawa United have appointed Mbwas Mangut as their new Technical Adviser on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The former Plateau United boss replaces Salisu Yusuf, who left the club after helping them avoid relegation last term.

He led Plateau United to a 7th-place finish in the 2024/25 NPFL season and holds a CAF B Licence, Africa’s second-highest coaching qualification.

Chairman Solomon Babanjah described the appointment as the start of a new chapter, saying:

“Coach Mbwas’s appointment marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for our team. His coaching philosophy aligns with our club’s ambitions.”

Mangut, who was assistant at Heartland, Wikki Tourists, and Enugu Rangers, is aiming for continental qualification.

“A lot is being expected of this team.By the grace of God, we will achieve success together,” he said.

“All that is needed is a few exceptional players to fortify the team to compete at the highest level.”

Mbwas featured for clubs across Nigeria, Colombia, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and India including Mighty Jets, Sharks (now Rivers United), Deportivo Cali, FC Lens, Al-Hilal, Al-Arabi, and Vasco De Gama.

The Solid Miners begin their campaign on August 24 away to Niger Tornadoes, in what will be Mangut’s first official game in charge.
