President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), as the non-executive chairman of the NNPC Limited Board.
This appointment follows a major reorganization of the board, which led to the removal of Chief Pius Akinyelure as chairman and Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari as Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).
The newly reconstituted 11-member board will be headed by Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the GCEO, with Musa Kida serving as the non-executive chairman.
Also joining the board is Adedapo Segun, who replaced Umaru Isa Ajiya as Chief Financial Officer in November 2024.

The board includes six non-executive directors representing Nigeria’s geopolitical zones:
- North West: Bello Rabiu
- North East: Yusuf Usman
- North Central: Babs Omotowa, former MD of Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG)
- South-South: Austin Avuru
- South West: David Ige
- South East: Henry Obih
Additionally, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry, while Aminu Said Ahmed will represent the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

Meanwhile the Director General of the National Sports Commission NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, has congratulated Musa Kida, for his appointment as the new Board Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Hon Olopade said Eng Musa Kida has been one of Nigeria’s most efficient and Productive Sports administrators who has sacrificed alot for the growth of Nigerian Basketball.
” Musa Kida is an accomplished administrator whose achievements cut across both the oil sector and Nigerian basketball. I have no doubt that the NNPC Limited will attain better efficiency and attract more investment under his watch”.
All appointments take effect immediately from April 2.
