Nigerian international Olisa Ndah is still waiting to make his first appearance for Stellenbosch FC more than a month after joining the club, as a work permit delay continues to stall his debut.
The 28-year-old centre-back completed his move in February but remains unavailable for selection, with administrative processes yet to be finalised.
Head coach Gavin Hunt described the situation as “disappointing”, noting that what should have been a routine procedure has taken longer than expected.
“I’d love to get him into the team, but some people get work permits much quicker than others,” Hunt said.
Ndah previously played in South Africa for Orlando Pirates, but a change of employer requires fresh documentation.
Hunt suggested the process should typically be swift, particularly when compared to other major leagues.
“It’s just a change of employee, so it should be something quick, he’s been here close to a month and should have played by now”he said.
The defender had been expected to make his debut in a league fixture earlier this month, but remains ineligible while awaiting clearance.
Stellenbosch are hopeful the issue will be resolved in time for upcoming matches, including a trip to face Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Ndah joined Stellenbosch on a free transfer after leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of January, seeking more consistent playing time following a difficult spell.
During his four-and-a-half years with Pirates, he made 81 appearances and was a regular starter before injuries disrupted his progress.
His last outing came in September 2024, when he captained the side in a league victory but suffered a fractured tibia that sidelined him for an extended period.
At international level, Ndah has represented Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations and has earned three caps for the Nigeria national football team.

His arrival strengthens an emerging Nigerian contingent at Stellenbosch, where compatriots such as Ibraheem Jabaar and Kazie Enyinnaya are already part of the squad.
Ndah began his professional rise in the Nigeria Premier Football League with Remo Stars before moving to Akwa United, where he won the league title, the first major trophy of his career.

That success paved the way for his move to Orlando Pirates in 2021 and established his reputation in South African football.
