NFF debunks speculation, affirms Chelle’s commitment as head coach for 2026 World Cup bid

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) spoke against the recent speculation suggesting that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is contemplating terminating his contract.

This speculation arose following a report by Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, which points out the uncertainties regarding Nigeria’s World Cup qualification as a potential reason for Chelle’s alleged decision.

Obayiuwana said: “Eric Chelle is considering terminating his contract as Super Eagles manager. Sources within the NFF say that uncertainty over his fate beyond the FIFA World Cup qualifying series has led to a dramatic change of heart. The NFF will hold a crisis meeting to address the matter.”
