The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has not yet completed his international switch to Nigeria.
Recent reports suggested the former Arsenal player had been cleared to represent the Super Eagles, but senior officials say the process remains ongoing and has not been finalised by world governing body FIFA.
Okonkwo, who currently plays for Wrexham AFC, has represented England at youth level and must receive formal FIFA approval before he becomes eligible for competitive matches for Nigeria.

NFF Head of International Competitions Dayo Enebi said the federation is actively pursuing the change of sporting nationality but stressed that clearance has not yet been granted.
“The process is still ongoing and has not been completed yet,” Enebi told Footy Africa. “Okonkwo is one we are looking at, but as of today, his international switch has not been concluded.”
He added that the goalkeeper is among several players being considered as the coaching staff assess areas requiring reinforcement.

Although ineligible for official fixtures until FIFA approval is secured, Okonkwo could still be invited to train with the squad ahead of an upcoming tournament in Amman.

Enebi indicated that the camp would provide an opportunity for prospective additions to integrate with the squad, even if administrative formalities remain unresolved.
