Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Ibrahim Musa Gusau is set to mark a milestone on Tuesday with the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a state-of-the-art Players’ Hostel and additional training pitches in Abuja.

The 68-room facility, named the NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel, will be located within Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, directly opposite the NFF Secretariat.

The modern two-wing structure will feature 62 single rooms, four suites, and two executive suites, providing world-class accommodation for players.

In addition to the hostel, the NFF will construct two new training pitches—one synthetic and one natural grass—alongside the re-construction of the existing synthetic pitch.

The development will also include sitting terraces for 1,838 spectators, two dressing rooms for players (each accommodating 27 players at a time), and two dressing rooms for officials.

The entire project, scheduled to be completed within 24 months, is funded by FIFA through its FIFA Forward 3.0 program. FIFA Forward, established in 2016 under the leadership of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, aims to enhance global football development through increased investment, tailored projects, and effective oversight.

This is a transformational project for our national teams, and we are grateful to FIFA for providing the funds for these amazing facilities. Right from the inception of the present NFF administration, we were clear on our plans for the FIFA Forward 3.0 funds. This initiative will not only improve team management but also reduce operational costs, allowing us to invest more in grassroots football development.”

“The main objective of the Forward Programme is to ensure top-quality infrastructure that drives football growth worldwide. The NFF’s transformation of its Technical Centre is a perfect example—upgrading training pitches, building modern accommodation, and creating a true home for the national teams. This project is a brilliant one for Nigerian football, and we’re proud to support and collaborate with the NFF, not only with funding but also by sharing expertise.”

This initiative marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s football infrastructure, further solidifying the country’s commitment to fostering talent and improving the standards of the game.
