Ajax Amsterdam’s quad-national centre-back Precious Ugwu has shed light on his international future, revealing he is still undecided over which country he will represent at senior level.
The 19-year-old, currently turning heads at the ongoing 2025 UEFA European U19 Championship, has started all of the Netherlands group games so far, helping the Dutch side record consecutive clean sheets in their first two matches.
Ugwu is eligible to play for four nations: Nigeria, Netherlands, Germany, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was born in Germany, qualifies for Nigeria through his father, and is also eligible to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina via his mother.
Despite increasing media attention in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ugwu confirmed he has yet to be contacted by the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

However, Ugwu has suggested that he would love to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2026 Fifa World Cup. “I haven’t had any contact with them yet,” Ugwu told Meridian Sport, via Ajax1. “But if I were to choose Bosnia & Herzegovina, it would have to be for the first team. Then I hope to play with the team at the World Cup in 2026.”
Two years ago, Precious’ mother Mirela claimed they turned down an approach from the Nigeria Football Federation regarding a potential national team call-up.

Ugwu has been included in three Eredivisie matchday squads as an unused substitute for Ajax Amsterdam, and his performances have garnered attention from several countries.

Despite being provisionally cap-tied to the Netherlands in May 2023 after featuring in the European U17 Championship against England, Ugwu remains undecided about his international future.
