Nigerian duel ends in Osimhen glory as Galatasaray edge Besiktas

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored the decisive goal as Galatasaray S.K. secured a narrow 1–0 victory over city rivals Besiktas in Saturday’s Istanbul derby in the Super Lig.

The contest also featured a Nigerian midfield battle, with Wilfred Ndidi starting for Beşiktaş while Osimhen led the line for Galatasaray.

After an evenly contested opening, the breakthrough arrived in the 39th minute. Osimhen met a cross from Leroy Sané and powered a low header past the goalkeeper to hand the home side the lead.

The striker had earlier been booked in the opening minutes following an awkward challenge on the Beşiktaş goalkeeper while attempting to reach a loose ball.
